Bio Carrie Jacobson revels in the joys of color, paint and creativity. She uses oils and a palette knife to make paintings with a heavy impasto, paintings that tell the story through color, texture, and faith and optimism. Carrie began painting when she was 50. Four years later, she left a 25-year career in journalism to earn her family’s living by making and selling paintings. It was a bold move, suggested by her husband. He saw that she was being juried into some of the top shows in the country, that galleries were seeking her art, and that people all over the United States - and even internationally - were buying her paintings. He believed she could earn enough to support them, and his belief in her helped make it happen. The Jacobsons moved from Connecticut to Wachapreague, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and for 10 years, they lived the life they’d never dared to dream of wanting. Peter died, suddenly, in October 2019. Carrie lives alone now, with four rambunctious dogs. They, her friends and her art have helped her along the road to healing, to living again, to flourishing.
